Joanna Jensen

As a Copenhagen-based queer feminist conceptual theatre director and playwright, Joanna works with redefining values, audience activation and renegotiation of audience contracts and fiction contracts between audiences, roles, performers, objects, systems, symbols, fictions and realities.

The red thread in the topics they have worked with so far is gender, power criticism and the ethical meeting between people. They are busy mixing postcolonial studies, ontological reflections and queer theory into the development of new methods, ideas and forms.

For example they have studied and gathered methods how to queer the gaze of the audience so that the audience can’t reduce the bodies and representations on stage to fit into a pre-decided, normative expectation of what they are seeing - but instead to make the normative gaze visible and dismantled leaving space to actually see.
